REIAC's PURPOSE & PHILOSOPHY
Purpose
The Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC) is a national nonprofit trade association, that provides an open forum for the exchange of ideas, concerns and experiences between people who conduct commercial real estate transactions. The organization is comprised of real estate owners and senior executives of institutions and real estate investment firms who, acting as principals, are primarily engaged in the areas of equity transactions and debt origination. REIAC has three primary purposes:
- Provide a forum for communication and information exchange between its members.
- Provide opportunities for improving the knowledge and professional standards within the industry.
- Provide a vehicle for community service.
REIAC seeks to improve the investment management arena through increased awareness of the following:
- Areas of investment opportunities.
- Strengths and weaknesses of real estate markets.
- Economic conditions and market trends.
- Potential opportunities.
- Risks associated with specific property types.
- Techniques to improve the cost-efficiency of operations.
- Optimal staffing and technical support.
- Risk assessment and appropriate underwriting.
Philosophy
The underlying philosophy of REIAC is that communication and the candid sharing of insights and experiences builds foundations for wiser and more prudent investing, thereby allowing its members to better serve their financial intermediary, private investor and pension fund clients. This ultimately promotes healthier competition and a more stable investment environment, which, in turn, leads to a healthier real estate economy on the whole.
